PROSPERITY DIRECTOR FOR POLK COUNTY HIRED

Polk, FL – United Way of Central Florida and the Florida Prosperity Partnership are pleased to announce the hiring of Deborah Prescott as the new Prosperity Director for Polk County. As the Prosperity Director, Prescott will be responsible for planning and developing community tools such as local credit counseling, money coaching, budgeting, and savings services for low and moderate income workers.

Prescott has a bachelor’s degree in business, and certifications in leadership and education. She has an extensive background in non-profit organizations, financial planning training, grant writing, fund raising, and real estate. She is the former Community Resource Director for Habitat for Humanity of Hernando County.

“Deborah has an excellent record of convening individuals and organizations with the desire to leverage their talent, resources, and passion to improve their prosperity, and she will be bringing this to Polk County,” said Bill Mills, Director of Strategic Initiatives at Florida Prosperity Partnership.

The Prosperity Director for United Way of Central Florida is a new position created for the 2013 grant cycle, and is a collaboration with the Florida Prosperity Partnership. The goal of the position is to advance financial stability by helping people of moderate means attain the skills they need to save for emergencies and achieve financial assets.

Prescott will start work as an employee of the Florida Prosperity Partnership on September 3, and is excited about working with United Way of Central Florida to bring the vision of the Florida Prosperity Partnership to Polk County.

“I am passionate about improving the lives of people in my community,” said Prescott. “If we cannot help our neighbors, then we will never improve as a community.”
