We need people to help with free tax preparation; called VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance). Sign up here and we'll help find a convenient schedule for you to train so you are certified by mid-January. We need greeters, preparers, Spanish translators.

We'll help you certify as an IRS volunteer. We'll help place you at a free-tax-preparaton site to fit your schedule. We're looking for people who are good with numbers, have regularly prepared their own taxes OR who are just interested in volunteering! Minimum two hours a week for multiple weeks during January-April.

ReadingPals receive comprehensive training and commit to 30 weeks of one hour reading sessions with 3rd graders during the school year (substitues are available). These individuals meet four times in the spring. The first meeting is an orientation about 90 minutes long. The second meeting is about 2 hours to review grant applications. The third meeting is an entire day - necesary to physically visit each grant applicant on your team. The last meeting is about 2 hours when your team decides grant recommendations that are forwarded to the United Way Board of Directors.
