Publix Appreciation Day 2012

The United Way of Central Florida celebrated the success of the Publix Super Markets UW Campaign on Publix Appreciation Day held on February 9th and 16th. The annual event includes several activities held over two separate days meant to show our deep appreciation to Publix Associates for all that they do in their respective communities. Activities included: positive picketing, posters and table tents, along with goodies for the break rooms, special notes and phone calls to Publix Leadership Givers, as well as an appreciation luncheon for the Employee Campaign Coordinators.

Publix is the top contributor to the United Way in Florida. Publix Associates not only give financially to United Way -- they also give personally -- dedicating many hours to major volunteer roles including Days of Caring, and serving on the United Way board of directors, campaign cabinet and community investment teams. In 2011, Publix raised more than $3.6 million for United Way of Central Florida, an impressive 12% increase over the previous year.

"The Publix/United Way partnership has improved the lives of thousands of people in ways that no one organization and no individual can accomplish on their own," said Terry Worthington, President of United Way of Central Florida. "Through their tremendous efforts to give, advocate and volunteer, Publix Associates show what it means to LIVE UNITED."
