Information Technology Committee

Volunteer Position Descriptions

Title:                           Information Technology Committee Chair

 

Partners With:          Vice President of Marketing and Communications, and IT Director

 

Position Description: The Technology Committee Chair will recruit a group of individuals with technical backgrounds that can contribute to improving the systems utilization of the United Way.

                                   

                                    The Chair will be supported by United Way staff and will define purpose, frequency and location of meetings.

 

Terms:                        The term of the Committee Chair is 1 year with a maximum of three consecutive terms, after which the Chair can choose to serve at-large or on other UWCF committees.

Title:                           Information Technology Committee Member

 

Reports To:                Information Technology Committee Chair

 

Partners With:          Vice President of Marketing and Communications, and IT Director

 

Committee Purpose: To support the vision, mission and strategic direction of United Way of Central Florida by providing expertise and leadership to assure UWCF information technology needs are being met in an effective and cost efficient manner.

 

Primary Duties:         Provide solutions to help achieve our strategic goal - "Use Technology Wisely".

Review existing policies and processes and recommend new technologies and system approaches, as appropriate.

Facilitate development of an Information Technology Strategic Plan.

 

Research, analyze, and recommend specific technical systems for use at United Way.

Review I.T. systems as needed, at least annually.

Provide resources (personal, professional, and financial) to enhance and support UWCF's information technology goals.

Review annual operating and capital budgets and actual expenditures.  Make budget recommendations.

Carry out special assignments, as requested.

 

Structure:                   Chairperson, Vice-Chair, Board Member to serve as special liaison, at large membership comprising Information Technology Executives involved in technology functions such as Internet or e-commerce, mid-range computing, local area network administration, technology planning, and the management of these functions.

 

Terms:                        The term of at-large members is not limited; however, the committee reserves the right to terminate an individual's membership in cases of lack of participation, conflict of interest, or if said action is in the best interest of United Way of Central Florida.

 

Commitment:             A formal meeting will be held at least monthly. 

Qualifications:           Expertise in information technology systems.

                                    Willingness to learn and embrace the vision, mission and strategic plan of UWCF.

                                    Commitment to and belief in community service and volunteerism.

                                    Ability to promote UWCF through professional and personal networks.
