Get Your Taxes Prepared For FREE!

If you have a family income of less than $57,000 (singles up to $29,000), you can have your 2013 taxes prepared by one of United Way of Central Florida's partners for free!

To take advantage of this progam, make an appointment starting in February, at one of United Way's partners throughout Polk. AARP sites are listed, as well, and AARP does not cap income for their services. Plus, anyone who has their tax return prepared at a United Way tax partner and saves at least $300 of their refund into a savings account is entered in a drawing for an I-Pad tablet .

Why are we doing this? United Way of Central Florida is promoting saving as a way to help families become financially stable. Family service partners that used to provide emergency assistance of rent or utilities are working to provide savings tools, credit repair, banking classes and job credentialing to help families keep more of what they earn. Using tax returns to build savings accounts in preparation for financial emergencies is the focus of United Way's Free Tax Prep.
