This year our early literacy program, ReadingPals will be offered in 14 elementary schools
in Polk and Highlands Counties. The program offers our community a wonderful opportunity to
volunteer directly with kindergarten students in the classroom.
For the 2013-2014 school year, we are looking for 200 volunteer ReadingPals to read to more than 600 children, helping to ensure that more children will be reading at grade level by third grade.
ReadingPals are asked to read one hour a week, every week throughout the school year. We hope to provide the students with a broad perspective by having a diverse group of volunteers from all walks of life including civic leaders, nurses, police officers, business executives, attorneys, retirees and parents. The hour you give will have effects that last a lifetime. We hope you will join us in this unique opportunity to change the life of a child-forever!
