With Valentine’s day just around the corner and our hearts on center stage, this is a great
time to think about everything, not just the people, in your life that you are passionate
about. When you Live United, it’s easy to turn those passions into great ways to improve our
community. Here are just a few ideas:
-
Volunteer your time at an organization that aligns with your passions, whether it’s
helping the homeless, mentoring children, assisting the elderly, or teaching job skills to
adults with developmental disabilities. The United Way of Central Florida has more than
sixty local partners, all of whom would appreciate a helping hand from time to time. Check
our website for potential opportunties.
-
Give a little bit, or a lot. Every dollar makes a difference when funding a program
that improves our community, either through reducing drop-out rates, keeping workers
healthy, or helping families become financially stable and independent.
-
Advocate within our community for causes that are close to your heart by telling
others about them. Share statistics and stories with coworkers, government
representatives, or people in your civic organizations. Or join a Community Investment
Team and participate in the allocation of funds that change lives and strengthen our
community. Contact Debbie Wilson for
information about being on a Community Investment Team.
Wherever your heart leads you, you can make a difference! When we all work together to
address the underlying issues that destabilize communities and families, we can create a
healthy, prosperous life for us all.
