Alexia came to Women's Care Center with a book bag and a tote. She
leaves in May with a job and a new apartment.
United Way's goals are to help families address the root cause of financial problems. Alexia formerly served as a U. S. Army Reservist and Microcomputer Support Specialist but had lost her civilian job and couldn't keep her apartment. With the help of United Way and Women's Care Center she got to work earning certifications for truck driving. She earned a Class A CDL license with Tanker and Hazmat endorsements. Alexia received a Class D and G Security Guard license. And, now she has a job with an area trucking company!
Women's Care Center provided an opportunity for Alexia to get certifications for stable employment, a chance to save money for apartment and utility deposits, and basic financial education classes to help her manage her family finances. When you support United Way you help people like Alexia change their lives in a permanent way.
